Our Very First Date… Anne Mc’Namara

Belladonna lily (Amaryllis belladonna) plant by Peter

RADIATE LOVE ❤️

our very first date… Anne Mc’Namara

with your wavy, long brown hair
a blue summer dress and white cardigan
me, in my very best short pants

did you ask me out
or was it me who asked?
i don’t remember

we met outside the gate of the house
between your house and my house
in full view of all

we weren’t mindful
neighbours peeking
through their window curtains

we stood facing each other
engaged in chatter
happy moments, contentment

Anne Mc’Namara
my Niamh of Tír na nÓg
romance, eternal youth

you raised your white cardigan
out to each side, i stepped closer
and you braided us both within

hidden from the world
just you and me
we kissed, a peck of sorts

two children we were
of five or six
fixated in the moment

remains now only the memory
a framed photograph hung
on the wall of my mind

me and Anne Mc’Namara
shrouded by her white cardigan

our very first date…
