A Letter From My Daughter

Hello and welcome my dearest, dearest friends. i have a little company with me this week and next which pleases me, my son and his family.

i always find it a lovely thing dear friends to have a little company, don’t you? The togetherness, the sense of community, the camaraderie, sitting at the table sharing of meals together… really lovely and special!

To reinforce the message contained within my last essay: – ‘Change Your Thoughts,’ i would dearly like to share with you dear friends a letter i received from my daughter which highlights the strategies i took in a period of extreme difficulty that i went through which proved to be highly effective and perhaps could be of assistance to someone.

i do not publish this letter as a boast, for a pat on the back, to satisfy my ego. No, no, absolutely not, far from it, i take no interest in such fancies.

i publish it praying for the possibility that it could, it just could help someone along, that it could be a source of inspiration and encouragement.

Thank You

It probably isn’t enough to say what I really mean. You are an inspiration and should be so to everyone who has the pleasure to meet you.

Everyone goes through hard times in Life, but everyone chooses the route of complaining and blaming. You choose the only route that really helps and works; you appreciate Life and what you have. You get up every morning with a smile on your face saying what a wonderful day it is (It’s another great day!), you enjoy every minute of it by looking even at the simplest things and turning them into a miracle worth appreciating. It’s a lovely morning, it’s a great day, it’s a lovely evening.. what other secret to happiness is there than this? ☺︎

One has to admire this, especially in light of recent times; looking for 1 cent coins on the street so as they will bring good luck, counting out every euro to try and do some shopping. You didn’t let this get to you though and you didn’t do what everyone else does: mistake challenges for disaster. You accepted the challenge with a smile on your face, you learnt from it, and everything has always worked out. Always. You’ve managed to do everything, to pay everything, on your own. You didn’t let what you didn’t have seem bigger than what you did have.

People look for and see only problems, then ask how they can get rid of them. They don’t realize how lucky they are; they don’t think about the fact that they have a house, they have a bed, they have food, they have a kitchen, they have cars, clothes…They don’t see the sun rise in the morning, they don’t see the birds flying freely, they don’t notice the smells, the colours, the sunsets, the slight breeze of wind on their face. Because they are so concentrated on their “problem” that they think is and want it to be the biggest and most challenging problem ever seen on the face of the earth, that they are completely blind to what Life really is and the beauty that it displays every day.

You’re not like that. You’re blind to problems and have perfect sight for Life! In this day and age it is very rare and this must be appreciated. You’re the one who receives the most benefits, because you’re happy! You’ve sorted out the way to deal with everything in the most positive way possible. While everyone else is complaining and blaming, you’re living and enjoying Life, which is the real reason of it’s existence. And obviously by being able to think of a solution and always work a way out without panicking.

You said you’ve got to thank people when they do things, so I want to thank you. Not for anything particular that you’ve said/done/given but just for being you. For always listening to me, advising and letting me be myself. In a world like today’s, I am extremely lucky to have a father who lets me be and develop who I really am without any restrictions or barriers, or fear. Thank you for the advice, for the freedom, love, wisdom. Thank you for being able to listen, to always sort things out, for the wonderful environment, for the brilliant attitude towards Life, for everything that you do. Thank you for teaching me so much in such a simple way. Thank you for all the adventures together and the many that have yet to come.

Well done for being the way you are and always being yourself. You are a magnificent person and the world needs more people like you. If anytime I will feel not lucky in Life I just have to remind myself that I am one of the luckiest people alive, because I have a father like you.

Thank you for being such a wonderful father.
The best has still to come. ☺︎
